i made my first pizza
I tried my first hand at making a pizza on Friday. I'm not sure what inspired me to do it, but sometime around the middle of the day on Friday I decided I was going to make a pizza from scratch, dough and all.
I've never baked or messed with doughs before so I went into that part a little hesitant. Baking is all about precise ingredients I hear, though, so I measured everything out exactly and trusted the gods of math and Italian food to guide my efforts.
The dough turned out great. The whole thing turned out great as a matter of fact. The only hiccup was that I let my pizza stone pre-heat with the oven, under the assumption that I would transfer my pizza onto it when it was time to start cooking. When it came time to make the transfer I couldn't move the pizza without destroying it. So the pizza ended up being baked on the upside down baking sheet I prepped it on. It was ugly but delicious.
I'm not huge on tomato sauce, so I made my pizza with a homemade pesto instead. Then I topped it with chicken, mushrooms, onions, bacon, mozzarella, and parmesan. When it was out of the oven I garnished it with chopped green onions and a little hot sauce.
